My name is Sam Krhut and I am originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi and now live in Mobile and have for three years now. My family still resides in Hattiesburg, with exception of a younger sister who lives in Jackson, Mississippi with her husband of 3 three years. I have a dog by the name of Saint Gabe who will turn eight on Halloween. He enjoys eating milk bones, chasing squirrels, and long walks, preferably on nature trails. I also have family in Fairhope as that is where my parents are originally from. While I grew up in Hattiesburg, I was born in Mobile and visited the Eastern Shore frequently throughout my childhood, so I was relatively familiar with the area when I moved.
I moved to the area with the company that I was working for at the time after college. The position was a promotion so I was eager for the relocation and have loved Mobile ever since. After a couple of years with that company, I accepted another position in outside sales and enjoyed a year or so with that company before I decided to pursue a career in education. I always had the notion to educate on a professional level but never took the steps to pursue. I attended the University of Southern Mississippi and received a B.A. of History after high school and always considered teaching as both of my parents retired from the university system and were both educators. My mother retired from the University of Mississippi and my father the University of Southern Mississippi. Both stressed the importance of education growing up on the secondary level as well as higher education. Subsequently, I considered teaching as a career from an early age.
Randy Paush on Time Management
I found the Randy Paush's video on time management very informative. While much of what he said was common sense, it is often times the simple stuff that we forget to do to in order to be more productive and efficient. While I do subscribe to many of Mr. Paush's theories of time management and how to get more out of the day, their is quite a bit in this four minute video that I was desperate to hear. For instance, I am often times discouraged to make a plan for my day due to the fact that as soon as a plan is made it is altered. But randy made a great point that you can change a plan that is not made. I definitely could do better to create to do lists/plans for my days. There is no doubt in mind that I would be more of a productive person. In conclusion, I found his this video to be a great reminder of how the little things can lead to a more productive lifestyle.
Time Management
I would imagine that the majority of students in today's academia that find their first semesters in college unsuccessful academically would probably attest that their failures could be attributed to lacking time management skills. Every university should dedicate a part of their website to proper time management techniques particularly aimed at reaching incoming freshmen and students new to college. Organization is the key to effective time management and time management is the key to succeeding whether it be in school or job. I suppose that these guidelines for effective time management skills set forth by Penn State is extremely beneficial for it's students. That is assuming of course that students take time to read them and pay mind.
